When he recovered, the series returned to production

Chronology

A retired CIA agent is haunted by the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares when he is suddenly visited by an unknown man after nearly three decades. Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions. At that time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed with and subsequently treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Bridges described the return as coming back after a "long weekend" on podcast in July 2022. The old man has a good thing about it. Namely Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow and the intrigue of a spy story with problems on all sides.

Sophisticated storytelling doesn’t have to be so complicated

It sounds good and it’s off to a good start. However, the difficult story burdens the viewer in terms of both understanding and patience. I think this series goes beyond trying to be deeply mysterious and complicated.

I’ll try to follow up, but it’s not very convincing

It takes away from the very realism that The Old Man is selling. That might be a plus for some, but the bottom line is that I’m 6 episodes in and have no idea what’s going on. The calculated slowness wore out my patience instead of graciously engaging in it.
