American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Chronology
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how, thanks to her exceptional mind, she is able to help solve crimes while organizing evidence during her shift as a police station cleaner. Despite her extremely high IQ, excellent memory, and vast knowledge of arcane matters, Morgan makes a number of basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a legal TV show would know not to make. In the first episode, for example, she obtains a document from a locked safe in the law firm of the suspected victim that would never be admissible in court: illegally obtained evidence. Furthermore, it could not be used to obtain other evidence, violating the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree”; in episode 2 she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene, and in episode #1, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene.
This series revolves around Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a woman who works as a night janitor for the LAPD
3 removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and making everything he removed no longer admissible in court.. Remaking HPI (2021). When she happens to look at the case file, she becomes curious and makes some corrections to the murder case. This leads the department to realize that she has a talent for perceiving, assimilating and organizing facts or evidence.
They hire her as a consultant
Think Will Hunting meets Adrian Monk. Like Will, she has an exceptional IQ and a sharp mind. Like Monk, she suffers from OCD, although not as neurotic as Monk. But she feels she has to reconcile all the conflicting data (like an itch that needs scratching).
She is also very assertive
And while Morgan sometimes feels like an outsider, she is very compassionate. I really like this series, although there have been many other police procedurals where a civilian with unusual talents works with the cops. Morgan’s character is fun to watch. And the suitcases have interesting solutions.
The children are also interesting
She also has three children, so she always has to balance work and home. In the first episode, her young son really helps her case, behind the scenes.
