Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth when they worked together for the same magazine. Ingrid later became a writer of autofiction, while Martha became a war journalist. Living conditions separated them. After years of no contact, they find themselves in a dire crisis.
